4.1. What does impact mean?

‘Impact’ addresses these questions:

  1. Does involving patients and the public in research make a difference to the research process and outcomes?
  2. What impact does involving patients and the public have on the researchers and the patients/members of the public who get involved?

Impact can be positive or negative and is often a mixture of both.
