Great post. Even alternatives or potential counter-strategies end up aligning you more with the very system they're supposedly moving you away from.
A bug bear of mine - and it is tied up to ecologically aware/sensitive living, promise! - is the fetishization of organic food in certain UK supermarkets. We try to buy organic/local as much as possible, and buy stuff that it's in season. But it bloody hard to do as it's usually so expensive and (more often than not) endorsed by some kind of celebrity chef, which encapsulates the systemic problem.
