I posted this on twitter, and when I did this UK calculator, I got the same result as I did for the global network : http://calculator.bioregional.com/
I also live in the country, but it also carries a bit of a load, and for me that seems to emerge through poor public transport and having to drive everywhere. When I go to the UK, I feel ashamed of Australia. There are so many measures in place like smart energy meters, public waste sorting bins and a much higher awareness of the need to make an effort.
Problem is, we still only have one planet (unless we can do something with that commet), and since I have never met anyone who gets a result of one planet when they do the quiz, then things look pretty grim.
Do you think perhaps that if enough people made sufficient changes, it might actually impact on the different indices that are measured in this calculator and the shift may be enough to bring things into a different kind of balance? For example, if ALL energy is clean and renewable, then using public transport or driving a car has less impact? And if everyone stopped buying items packaged in plastic, then recycling would look vastly different? A bit like when you make an effort to being healthy (thanks Silke), each change you make doesn't make much of a difference, but combined it can be transformative.
