TO BE AMENDED

This section will provide an overview of the course, introduce you to some key concepts and get you started with your reading. It will also provide an opportunity for you to meet your fellow candidates and become familiar with some of the online features available.

The readings and activities in this section are designed to be addressed during one week of study.

You should spend some time familiarising yourself with the layout and features of the course space. The section 'Navigating the Course 1 Space' will help you.

Thematic sections:
The course 1 online space is organised into thematic ‘sections’. Each section will contain a number of sub-topics. Not all content will be available to you initially, some items will be made visible as you progress through the course. This is designed to help keep the space easy to navigate and not be too overwhelming from the start – it can be easy to ‘get lost’ in online environments.

Within each of these sections a core focus or aims will be identified and there will be a range of activities, content and readings for you. These sections could be seen as ‘units’ or ‘sessions’ to be worked through over a space of time. Some are more extensive than others and will require more study time, this may range from a notional week of study to a more in-depth section that might take 3 weeks to work through.

It is anticipated that while much of the work is organised thematically you will need to navigate between the sections. As far as possible the sections will be cross-referenced and hyperlinked where appropriate.

Each section will include readings (links to readings, pdfs and references); some content (background or introductory information); specific assigned discussion topics; online and offline activities

Personal Wiki/Blog:
this has been provided so you are able to make reflective notes throughout the course and upload your own files. You are asked to regularly contribute to your personal blog (this is only visible to you and your tutor). This is a useful space for making reflective notes on your developing understanding of topics/concepts from your reading and making explicit connections to your own practice.

Shared Wiki/Blog:
You will be asked to contribute to the wiki at various stages as part of the activities in the thematic sections. You can also add to and contribute to the wiki at any time – perhaps using this as a chance to work collaboratively with peers to develop a shared knowledge and understanding of specific issues. Please note this is not a discussion space.

Each week when you login to the site a new message will appear from course tutor. This will just be a brief note to indicate/remind you what the focus for study should be and which section(s) you should be working within. Any specific deadlines or important info will be announced here too.
