There are many ways to communicate with your supervisor about your dissertation (all of the following may not apply to each student): fact to face, email, Skype, online chat forum, collaborate links etc.

What worked well with some or all of these forms of communication and what made that type of communication challenging?

What specific aspects should supervisors be aware of when communicating with students? For example, some students have shared that a Skype conversation allows all of their questions to be answered and permits more of a conversation,  while email can be more reliable (with technology) and therefore convenient; Face to face conversations can be quick (especially in passing) and though they are an appreciated check-in, may not thoroughly answer all questions. What are your experiences and preferences?
