Week 10 final assessment preparation.

I have just listened to the lecture from Christie and two thoughts struck me. The first is the parallel between coaching and teachig where both start off instructing and as the athlete/student develops the process moves from instruction to autonomous learning. (Primary school - PHD?) Learning the basics to High Performance?

The second thought was on the idea of activators. Your example of cycling was perhaps unfair in that if a child learns to ride a bike they can usually start cycling again any time they want to. If they wish to cycle competitively then the coaching comes into play.

For other sports the activator/(instructor?) may have to teach the simple motor skills involved  before the participant is safe/ able to participate eg sailing, martial arts and archery which I am familiar with, where even at a basic level there must be instruction in stance, alignment and technique to prevent injury/accident
