Learning Team Reflections
What is your total score?
The purpose of the exercise is to help you reflect on how you can help develop the learning capacity of the team colleagues for whom you have responsibility or for whom you are a fellow team member. While there are no right or wrong answers, you might want to consider the following:
- If your score is less than 23 in total you may wish to look at specific areas that you can work on to improve the learning capacity of your team members.
- A score of 13 or below should encourage you to raise deep questions about the learning capacity of your team members and their ability to deliver the improvements in learning and teaching that are required.
- A score of 30 and above indicates that you are laying a solid foundation in this area, while 40 and above suggests very effective developments.
Bear in mind, however, that this is a reflective exercise only and each of the individual items are open to interpretation. Moreover, you might be doing a range of things that help support the learning capacity of your colleagues that is not reflected in the items above.
Optional Reflection
Use the following points to reflect on how you can effectively support the development of a learning team:
- What could you do to further develop your team members' capacity as a learning team?
- What support, if any, do you need to develop the potential of your team members, both collectively and individually in this area, and what might you do to get this support?
- How do you think your team members would answer the questionnaire? How could you find out?
