I was wondering if anyone had any coping strategies/mechanisms for kids that struggle to control their anger. I have someone that is quite self destructive in his anger, he hasn't been too bad recently but he struggled with an exercise tonight and he was the worst I've seen in a long time. There is often a noticeable drop in enthusiasm and effort from him as soon as he starts to struggle. Judging by the conversation I had with him at the end his approach and mindset towards training, and probably life in general, are pretty scewed so it's something I'll need to work on alongside this and won't help his anger when training. I reckon I can deal with the mindset issue and I've maybe got one or two ideas for the coping strategies, but i've never implemented coping strategies before so anyone with prior experience willing to share some advice would be greatly appreciated. There are some personal issues that are highly likely to be a big contributing factor, however he is aware of the issue, even saying today he has anger issues but doesn't seem either able or willing to really try and resolve or control it but seems more resigned or accepting of it.
